... But the river is still some high. We fished the NW yesterday for a few hours. Everyone we spoke with didn't see any fish but I heard the Elson crew landed one on Thursday and hooked another on the NW while doing a canoe run. Today Billy and I went down to the rapids for a couple hours, no fish seen and the wading is dangerous. We are not what you would call 'fishing seriously'.
Oh yeah, If you need thermacell refills, get ahold of Syd Matchett at Trout Brook fly shop -- best prices in NB without a doubt.

A few pictures from the day..
Chances are there'll be no way to get close to a fish tomorrow on account of the high water but the scenery and the laughs will be second to none :)

Ready to hit the river...
If we can get near it!
The Southwest is rising like nuts but we may find salvation a bit further North and West if ya know what I'm saying ;-)

And another....
I'll have to tie just a couple more of these for the box as well --- one pool in Blackville sees pretty much just this colour from the locals...

This fly tied this way .....
.... gave me one of my few multi fish days when I first started chasing Salmo Salar...
I just dug it out of the archives and tied a few for the box. A low water 'Smurf'.
Of course back then I had to buy them...

A few random pictures from the last few weeks...
The changes at Quarryville:

Some structure at the springtime honey hole:
Low friggin' water!
Moose or dog?

Things are looking up!
We're heading north on Wednesday or Thursday this week and the rivers are raising! Life is good! With any luck we'll see some bright fish move in with this raise. *fingers crossed*
Condensing fly boxes...
After a long and difficult hike into and out of a very inaccessible part of the LSW, I've decided to do something about the unnecessary number of fly boxes I lug around with me... Here's a start:

Getting ready for Salmon Wars...
Just sitting here recovering from the flu and getting ready to watch Salmon Wars:

Heading to the 'Chi with some good pals this weekend - who knows what we'll see?! Maybe some brights? There are a few around, Doug managed a nice salmon on Saturday past and saw 2 more hooked at the same place.

So I'm sitting there on the front steps minding my own business while trimming a few buck bugs ....
When out walks this young fella....
I thought it was real good of him to pose like that :D
It is a bit of a coincidence though -- out walks a deer while trimming deer hair bugs.... I ought to try that trick in November while in the deer stand!
