Bug tyin'

I managed to get a few more auction bugs tied today - that's why the hackle's on backwards -- a presentation that's highly effective in catching 'fishermen' in fly shops. Everyone knows a hackle tied in at the head and wrapped to the tail fished better ;)



These are going in a box to be sent to Debbie Norton at Upper Oxbow ;)

A couple earthy, buggy, buckbugs..

Here's hoping the rain that the weatherman is threatening us with actually happens this time! Bring it long, loud and hard - the rivers and the fish need it!



I'm just passing a bit of time at the vise this evening spinning up a few plain looking green machines... I hope I get to use them soon!

Switching gears... or at least attempting to...

After the last couple months of tying nothing but large flashy flies for spring salmon it's time to switch gears and start thinking about brookies and brights ...


 (Size 14 Mustad S82-3906B Signature Series)


Carter Bugs on Size 10 Mustad 9672 streamer hooks
Green Machines on Size 8 Mustad R50-94840 dry hooks
Big old hook is Size 3/0 Partridge CS10/1 Bartleet Traditional hooks (one of my main black salmon hooks)

These are rough but i'll get used to tying on smaller sizes soon enough!
