Special places on the river (s)....

I've taken a bit of a break from the northern rivers for the last couple weeks, stayed close to home but before I did, my good pals, Mr. & Mrs. Elson took me to a couple beautiful tributaries that i've never fished before. In total we hit 5 different rivers in 3 days - and what a blast in spite of the lack of good fishing! Paul landed a couple grilse and I even managed to get one to the glove, albeit briefly. None of them were harmed and I'm sure they're on the way upstream to fulfill their mission to spawn.

And now a few pics in no particular order....

These things are deadly....

Special places....

Don't you just love it when you walk to a new fishing hole for the first time? The anticipation and excitement really kicks in when you start to hear the river in the distance and then start to see it peek through the trees!

Look! A fish!

Bombin'

When you fish with Paul long enough, you get used to this...

Note the handling technique while taking the hook out --- the fish remains under water while pointed upstream...I think he's done this a time or two... ya think?

Dear lord, could that be the sun out in Sunny Corner??
('twas a rare sight for the first 2 days...)

REALLY special places....

A cave??

YUP!

Good friends!

Unbelievable....

It was right about here when the thunder told us it was time to leave ... graphite rods, surrounded by high trees on tops of cliffs seemed like bad retirement planning....

Thanks again Steph & Paul, it was an awesome trip!
