Before you step into one of the closed cold water pools this morning please be aware that the VO should have read "Monday September 3rd" and not "Saturday September 3rd"!
Dear DFO, if you need a hand writing variation orders, I possess a strong attention to detail and know how to use a calendar. If you're interested please let me know and I'll send over a resume!

Time for some optimism...
We're on the verge of a seasonal change, some leaves are falling and the US is heavy into the hurricane season (send rain please!) I haven't been salmon fishing since early July - well that is until last night, and Dad and I saw no fewer than 18 fish show on the coming tide and just as we were sitting here having breakfast and coffee we saw 2 fish roll directly in front of the Den... I'm not saying it's time to assault the rivers with high expectations but it certainly is time for some optimism - for a change.....

Tying some fall flies ...
Another thing I haven't done much of lately is tie flies - first off the vise:
Guy's Shrimp...
Here's the story and recipe: CLICK ME
This original fly was very good to me in 2011.

It's been a long time since I rock and roll....
Rock and Roll
Who knew August would be so busy without salmon fishing? Certainly not I! I didn't intend to neglect the blog for so long but here we are... We had a beautiful week of family vacation in Murray Beach, N.B. and scooted over to P.E.I. for a day to do the tourist thing. We did a little bit of fishing for Atlantic Mackerel and I topped it all off with a nasty computer virus -- what a pain in the arse! I hate computers!
Here are a few pictures from the last few weeks...

We're heading to the Den this weekend ... hard to believe I haven't been up river since early July! Where did the summer go?
